About Badminton Europe Development
The Badminton Europe Director for Development is Gregory Verpoorten. He is supported in the implementation of the Badminton Europe Development Programme by the Development Working Group and staff at the Badminton Europe office.
OBJECTIVE
To Promote and Develop the sport of Badminton in Europe by:
· Supporting an increased participation within the sport (on a grass root level and on an international level)
· Providing tools to empower and educate administrators, coaches and technical officials
· Providing an added value to the high-performance activities of the Member Associations
· Supporting the international cooperation between Member Associations in order to enhance the quality of the Badminton infrastructure
STRATEGY
The Development Group has published a Strategic and Action Plan (including KPI’s) on this Development Website. A summary of the Strategy can be found below.
· Setting up a Development Programme for the period 2009-2012 through:
PI 1: Determining the Development needs of the various Member Associations through personal contact and discussion
PI 2: Amendment of pre-set development assessment on the basis of the discussions with the respective Member Associations
PI 3: Generating input and ideas through informal and formal communications with the Member Associations and input from a broad Development Working Group
· Ongoing Information to Member Associations of which activities are available and suitable for them
· Setting up guidelines for the various activities
· Establishing contact with EBCD/IBAD and help develop badminton for disabled
· Organisation of Coach Education Programme and cooperation with established Coach Academies
· Establishing links to established training centres and offering scholarships to potential Olympic Qualifiers
· Enabling BEC Regional Project cooperation with the aim of developing Member
· Associations through international cooperation
· Facilitating yearly BEC Summer School in cooperation with Organizing Member Association
· Contributing to Badminton in Schools through the BEC School Project
· Providing badminton equipment to Developing Member Associations
· Creation of a forum for Knowledge Sharing between the various Member Associations
· Creation of Information Databases in the benefit of the Member Associations
· Support relevant ideas and initiatives from the European Badminton Youth Network
· Helping new associations to be established
