THE NORTH ATLANTIC CAMP 2012

In the period 9 - 16 July 2012 the North Atlantic Camp (Badminton Europe supported Regional Project) was held in Vestmanna, Faroe Islands.  All together 24 players, in the age group 13-17 years, and 7 coaches from Greenland, Iceland and Faroe Island took part in the camp. The instructor/head coach present was Philip Fagralíð from Denmark.

The players were training 2-3 times a day. In their free time they had different social games and the sightseeing tour.

As according to the organizer: ‘For the players and the coaches from Greenland, the camp is the only badminton event outside of Greenland they participate in. The camp was well appreciated – the players from Iceland wanted to stay longer and all the coaches were pleased. The  Faroese were glad to be a part of the project.’

Players’ impressions:
Matjun á Lakjuni: ‘Many good experiences and a lot of fun – socially and during the training. I learned a lot of new things about badminton. Now I trust a little more in myself.’

Pálmi Guðfinnsson: ‘It was a good camp and I learned new things. I as well improved. It was fun and I got to know new people.’

Cecilia Josefsen:  ‘I am glad I got the opportunity to participate. I have learned a lot and I think as well that I have done some progress. My goal for the camp was to improve my footwork – that is what I had been focused on most.’
