Slovenia organized a traditional Regional Project together with Croatia and Serbia from 15-21 July 2018. This Regional Project was financially supported by Badminton Europe.

This year 29 players and 3 coaches enjoyed very good conditions in the “badminton village” of Mirna (a place where the traditional tournament Slovenia Junior & Youth is organized every year). A sports hall with 6 courts, good apartments and food at a nearby inn, and other sport facilities in the green nature of Mirna offer perfect conditions for practice.

The head coach of the project was a top Croatian doubles player Igor Čimbur. Together with his two assistants – national coaches Maja Kersnik from Slovenia and Ilija Pavlovič from Serbia he carried out a very good training program for the players. The players had two 2-hour practice sessions every day. They played many matches on Friday and Saturday – no official tournament was organized, but they took the matches very seriously, fighting each rally.

The organizers didn’t forget about the fun part. They took the players to the swimming pool on Thursday, where they enjoyed themselves for almost half of the day. Football was an extra activity for boys in the evenings. Girls enjoyed their free time exploring the Mirna village and getting to know the people.

After a week of hard training, the players were exhausted but happy to have spent time together with new friends. They are looking forward to new common activities and to play the BEC Circuit tournaments to meet again.
