Another successful event in Mirna

Slovenia organized a traditional Regional Project together with Croatia and Serbia, financially supported by Badminton Europe. This year, 33 players and 4 coaches enjoyed the very good conditions in the "badminton village" of Mirna (a place where the Slovenian Junior&Youth is organized every year). A sport hall with 6 courts, nice apartment, food and other sport facilities in the green nature close by, offered perfect conditions for a nice week of practice.

The head coach of the project was Denys Peshekhonov, a Russian coach who has lived in Slovenia for the last few years. Together with his assistans - 3 national coaches from Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia - he carried out a very good training program for the players. They had two times 2 hours practice sessions every day.

Despite this intense training program the organizers didn't forget about the fun part of the camp. On Thursday the players were brought to the swimming pool where they enjoyed themselves for almost half a day. A football match was also organized in the evening.

A team tournament was scheduled on Saturday. They tried a new team event scoring system ("105 points"). Each team match was composed of 1 MS, 1 WS, 1 MD, 1 WD and 1 MxD; with one set of 21 points played each time. The players gave good feebacks to coaches and organizers. They could enjoy this system because it was more exciting for them. Each point counts for a victory and if you lead by 20 points, it is not sure that you will win the tie.

After a week of hard training, the players were exhausted but happy about the time spent together with new friends. They are looking forward to new common activities and to meet again on tournaments of the BEC circuit.

Badminton Europe was glad to help again Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia for this new Regional Project.
