A successful first coach education course for tutors in Belgium

On 15, 16 and 17 June, in Antwerp, Belgium, 23 people from 12 European countries attended a Coach Education course for tutors. Over the two and a half days, they went through the BWF Level 1 Coach Education materials and learned how to use them. The course was managed by Ian Wright, who is the BWF Development Manager, with the help of Joann Hughes, who is a coach and has been involved in many of the BWF projects.

In addition to becoming familiar on how to train coaches with these resources, the participants were also assessed by Wright and Hughes. The outcome of this assessment will be to evaluate if each person is able to train coaches on their own in a similar way. If not, they will either have to assist a tutor first to become certified or to assist a tutor followed by attending a similar course as the one in Belgium to be assessed again.

The idea behind such a project is to have certified tutors with a similar level in Europe and to increase the number of coaches using the BWF Level 1 Coach Education resources, the new European standard in terms of Coach Education resources.
