Podcetrtek - The active host

The Slovenia Badminton Federation organized a regional project from 18-25 July in Podcetrtek, Slovenia. After a very successful one week BEC Summer School which ended on the 8th of July, Podcetrtek is again hosting another Badminton Europe development project, this time the Regional Project.

The Regional Project is supported by Badminton Europe and this year, Slovakia and Czech Republic joined the organization of the one week camp. The venue of the Regional Project consists of excellent conditions with a multipurpose hall with 17 courts, nice lodging facilities and a relaxing surrounding.

The one week camp was led by Slovenia´s Head Coach, Indra Setiawan from Indonesia and assisted with three other coaches; Rok Trampuž from Slovenia, Tibor Kessler from Slovakia and Tomaš Krajča from Czech Republic who are all national coaches in their respective countries.

A total of 22 players aged U17 had the opportunity to experience high level trainings with two practice sessions every day. On top of the training sessions, the players tested a new team event scoring system during the camp. The new scoring system is a relay team event where teams play to 105 points. All five categories were played one after another and the team which reaches 105 points first wins.

Players gave positive feedback to the coaches and the organizer after the relay team event. They enjoyed the new system because it is more exciting. Every single point counts and you never know who will win the game until the end. After a week of hard training, players were exhausted but happy to spend time together with their new friends.
