Summer School Fun in Slovenia

´Dobrodošli v Sloveniji´
that means ´Welcome to Slovenia´ in Slovenian. This year´s 2015 BEC Summer School takes place in the town of Podcetrtek from 11-18 July in the Multipurpose Podcetrtek Hall.

As one of the longest running BEC Development project, the 34th edition of the BEC Summer School welcomes 84 participants from 25 countries. Participants consist of U17 national level players, coaches and staff coaches. The preparation and organization of the 2015 BEC Summer School has been carefully planned to details by Jeroen van Dijk, Badminton Europe´s Development Manager and Zsófia Horváth, Development and Events Junior Manager together with the cooperation of Matevž Šrekl, the General Secretary of the Slovenian Badminton Federation.

Among the activities that will take place during the Summer School are multiple trainings for the badminton players, the BWF Level 2 Coach Education course, tournaments among the players and other sports activities. Participants will reside in Hotel Breza which is situated 7 minutes away from the Multipurpose Hall by foot.

The combination of a training camp for talented junior players and a coach education course is ideal as this creates a win-win situation for both the players and the coaches. ´This is my third Summer School and seeing it grow in the number of players and receiving positive feedbacks from the coaches shows that the Summer School is indeed beneficial for all parties. It will be an exciting week and I really look forward to meeting all the participants and share my badminton knowledge with everyone,´ stated Jeroen upon his arrival in Podcetrtek.

The progress of the Summer School will be reported and shared frequently on the BEC platforms. Use the official hashtag of #BECSS15 to share your experiences.
